Lessons From Summer Reading
This summer for English I we had to read a summer reading book. Either, The Outsiders, or The Giver. I choice to read The Giver. Now, Everyone who knows me knows I HATE reading, and I DON'T read. This year, since were in high school and its totally different than anything we knew I knew I had to suck it up and read the book. Now just 'cause I read the book doesn't mean I did not procrastinate. Don't worry I waited till the last day of my Florida trip (also five days before school) with my friend Shelby and her parents to start the first three chapters of the book, then read another twelve on the car ride home the next day. Once I started reading the book I thought to myself, Wow this is really interesting. Then I found myself wanting to keep reading and getting excited about what might Jonas do next. This book was a real page turner for me. In fact it was the first "page turner" I had ever read. So my lesson that I learned while reading my summer reading book is, Find a book and commit yourself to reading it!
